This kit is designed to save you from having to:
a) buy one thing from several different suppliers, and
b) buy in quantity parts you’ll only need one or two of.
Considering all the requirements and limitations of lighting a wand, the most reasonable wand battery we (helpful husband and I) could find is the MN27 12V. And trust me, you do not want to start out by trying to make the battery case yourself. (Yes, you must have one, if you want to be able to change the battery easily; I included the battery because they’re not that easy to find).
