Music

My beloved Baldwin SF-10.

Early Piano Students

I began teaching in September of 2000. I had acquired the 7-foot Baldwin earlier that year, but it was so big most of the children were afraid of it, so lessons began on the Steinway (in need of a rebuild) in the original piano room.

Recital Cakes!

Christmas 2003. The nutcracker on the program is what the cake was supposed to look like. The next picture is what it actually looked like…. after SIX HOURS of frustration and an awful lot of frosting.

Pre-Recital Cake-Decorating Parties!

I also made the 2004 Spring recital cake, but after that I let the students (mostly) decorate the recital cakes. Much easier and way less stressful for me!

The 2004 Christmas cake was stellar! You would not believe all the sparkles and (inedible) little silver balls all over that princess’s dress… and gumdrops and bits of candy in the sparkling “snow”.

Cake-decorating was so much fun, pre-recital parties weren’t enough.
